Not all facials are equal. While almost all facials include cleansing, exfoliation, steaming, and extraction, there are also those that feature various non-invasive anti-ageing and rejuvenating treatments. This is especially true for medical-grade facials, which differ in several ways from a traditional facial. So what are the best skincare facials, medical grade facials or traditional facials? let us explain.
Traditional Facials
A traditional facial is a beautifying treatment that cleanses and refreshes your skin. It involves different stages such as deep cleansing, exfoliation, extraction and moisturising and the use of various tools and products to pamper the skin. Some are also followed by a full or upper body massage for a relaxing experience. These steps are very similar to what anyone with a skincare routine may do at home.
Purpose of the facial: for the most part, are designed to give clients a pampering experience. While they can get rid of skin impurities and even improve common skin concerns, regular facials don’t always offer longer-lasting results. This is because the treatments used are not as strong as what you can get in a medical-grade facial.
Traditional facials only treat the superficial layer of the skin and offer a quick and relaxing treatment. These facials can remove dead skin cells and leave your skin looking fresher and younger, they only affect the surface layer of the skin. This is why they only provide short-term results and benefits.
MEDICAL-GRADE FACIALS
A medical-grade facial is a skin rejuvenating treatment that can improve the overall quality of your skin. It involves different steps and the use of medical-grade products, tools, and treatments to address various skin concerns. These facials are designed to meet the needs and goals of the patients by treating the skin beyond the surface level.
There is also the use of active ingredients and medical-grade equipment to nourish the skin and improve signs of ageing and start bio revitalisation processes of the skin.
They can help with:
Fine lines and wrinkles
Age spots
Sagging skin
Acne, scarring, and related concerns
Sun spots, age spots, hyperpigmentation
Enlarged pores
Dull skin
Trained or medical aestheticians usually preform the treatment. They understand the skin and different skin concerns and work with an a medical skin professional or dermatologist to create a treatment plan that suits you best. Medical-grade facials are also performed in a medical aesthetic clinic.
Medical-grade facials offer longer-lasting results, as they work deeper than the surface layer of the skin. Many of the treatments involve restoring the skin from the inside out, deep cleaning the pores, removing the damaged layer, and stimulating collagen production.
Our clinic offers a range of medical grade facials and face treatments that can give your skin a healthy, youthful glow. We also tailor and customise our facials depending on the patient’s unique needs and goals. Furthermore, we have several treatments that can target acne, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, mild skin laxity, and fine lines and wrinkles.
Here are some of our medical-grade facials.
Here are some of our medical-grade facials:
Hydra Dermabrasion (HydraFacial) – uses water, mild peeling agent and oxygen to gently exfoliate, hydrate, and nourish the skin. It is safe for all skin types, customisable, and can treat different skin issues such as pigmentation, oily skin, and signs of ageing.
Microneedling Mesofacial - A microneedling device which is a electric pen is used to create microneedling channels in the skin. A medical grade product (usually a serum) is applied to the skin whilst the pen is creating these feeding channels.
Microneedling is particularly helpful to patients that are looking to improve the texture of their skin and its also known to stimulate collagen and elastin not to mention the unbeatable glow it gives to the skin.
High Frequency Facial - During the high frequency treatment, enriched oxygen molecules are produced that create an anti-bacterial action and a “natural” thermal tissue warming. This reaction helps your blood vessels push away toxins, while the cells in your skin are enriched with nutrients and hydrating volume. This in turn creates an increase in blood circulation and cell renewal that supports increased levels of collagen and elastin. The skin is left feeling instantly energised and noticeably softer after just one treatment.
Depending on the inert gas that they are filled with, the electrodes produce either a neon red/orange or violet/blue light. Traditionally, acne prone skin is treated with violet and ageing skin is treated with red, however, recent studies show that both are effective regardless of the skincare concern.
All our facials are done with Cosmeceutical Products. These facials can only be done in a clinic. Each Facial is tailored to the clients individual skin care needs and with have a prescription element to it. I'm currently using Dermaceutic (French), Clinicare (Swedish) and BCN (Spanish).
I also Offer Radio Frequency Facials, which is a machine assisted facial. This Facial employs the use of a machine to push the required products into the skin. This is Ideal for customers who do not enjoy microneedeling or mesotherapy but want the added benefit of skin stimulation and prescription products. The result is amazingly soft, glowing skin.
